The micro-learning module is framed within the person-centered care model and places the student at the center of the educational and supportive process.
It presents migratory grief as an emotional process inherent to the migratory experience, characterized by being partial, recurrent, and multiple, and that can accompany the person throughout their life trajectory..
The theoretical framework integrates a psychoeducational perspective that validates the emotional experiences of newly arrived students, recognizes the losses associated with migration (family, language, culture, environment, status, etc.) and promotes educational practices sensitive to the vital, cultural, and developmental context of each child or young person. It draws on John Bowlby’s attachment theory and the concept of migratory grief defined by psychiatrist Joseba Achotegui.
This first micro-learning module offers conceptual tools to identify migratory grief in the school setting and understand the emotional impact it can have depending on age, developmental stage, and family situation.
This practice is applied in Central Catalonia.
